About David C. Hill
David C. Hill, born and raised in California, discovered his passion for photography at the young age of eight when he received his first camera. Inspired by his Aunt Joy, a travel photographer, David began capturing family vacations and honing his skills. Over the years, he has developed a unique style that spans candid, documentary, posed, and portrait photography.
David considers himself an artist who expresses his creativity through the lens. In his free time, he enjoys documenting the history, culture, and landscape of the San Francisco Bay Area. Professionally, he finds joy in working with both corporations and individuals, capturing their special events with a keen eye for detail.
With over 15 years of professional experience, David has photographed countless events and special occasions. His passion for photography lies in the continuous learning it offers and the vast array of subjects to explore, from taking the images to applying special techniques during processing.
People, food, and spaces.
David’s professional work centers on corporate and private events, food photography, and residential real estate. Working across these subjects informs his approach to each assignment: an event brings together people, room design, food, and the small details that tell its story.
His years in hospitality shaped a personable, practical approach. He reviews the timeline with clients, offers brief guidance when it helps, and uses conversation and a little humor to help people feel comfortable.
Independent work and DHill Studio
Alongside his professional assignments, David continues to explore the history, culture, and landscape of the Bay Area and places farther from home. His personal photography and stories are collected on State of Light.
DHill Studio creates photographic products in California using David’s own images and designs, including 8×8 prints, coasters, magnets, and greeting cards. Cards can feature custom client wording.
